Three Westfall Static High Shear Mixers
Compact High Shear Model 2800
Westfall’s high shear static mixer has a slim profile which allows simple drop-in installation in pipelines from 2″ to 120″. Alternate vortex shedding creates high performance mixing within a limited space. This is a full pipe motionless mixer into which up to six additives can be injected simultaneously or in specifically timed stages. High shear mixing also creates micro-bubbles for effective removal of salt from oil or oil from water.
Inline Static Mixer 2850
An inline static mixer that resists plugging from calcium build up.
The Inline Static Mixer Model 2850 is the ideal replacement for plugged up mixers. A common problem with conventional static mixers is that, when caustics are added, calcium deposits build up on the mixer and block the flow of liquids. This inline static mixer offers a high performance solution that improves mixing and resists calcium build up.
The plate’s singular orifice, with cloverleaf-shaped tabs, generates high-shear mixing. Moving the injection port 1/2 diameter downstream in the pipe from the mixer yields a 200% reduction in the concentration of the injected caustic.
Variable Flow Static Mixer Model 2900
For maintaining constant headloss while blending liquids or gases of varying flows, viscosities and temperatures.
The compact drop-in Variable Flow Mixer Model 2900 accommodates a turn down ratio of up to 20-1 in liquids or gases by incorporating two of Westfall’s signature plate mixers. The mixer provides a faster, better and often more economic choice for mixing and blending while providing constant headloss.
The upstream plate remains stationary while the downstream plate pivots as it adjusts incrementally to changing flow conditions. The downstream mixer responds to a differential pressure controller, opening wide for maximum flow velocity to reduce headloss, and closing as flow decreases to enhance mixing. Headloss remains constant throughout.
Five Westfall Static Low Headloss Mixers
Low Headloss Flow Conditioner Model 3000
Straightens flow of liquids or gases in pipelines for accurate metering.
Westfall developed the Flow Conditioner Model 3000 in response to a potable water customer for whom measurement accuracy and low headloss were of primary importance. Westfall’s Flow Conditioner is a patented design that straightens flow within 8 pipe diameters. It creates the fully developed (+/- .05%) velocity profile necessary for accurate measurement while keeping headloss to a minimum. This product features 4 fin-shaped mixing vanes welded equidistantly around the pipe interior at the upstream edge to create gentle blending vortices. Then 4 wing-shaped flattening vanes are welded equidistantly downstream to create a fully developed velocity profile.
The flow straightener is particularly effective in situations where highly accurate metering is required in spite of the swirl and turbulence caused by pipe bends or inflow of dissimilar fluids, gases or foams. In regions where issues of water affordability are increasing, accurate measurement is critical.
Ultra Low Headloss Pipe Mixer Model 3050
Choice of vane stages within pipeline allows for precise mixing with minimal headloss.
Westfall’s Ultra Low Headloss Pipeline Mixer 3050 series provide full pipe mixing that generates 2 to 4 times less headloss than other static mixers. Fatigue Life Analysis studies show these motionless mixers will last more than 40 years.
Four tapered and curved vanes with precisely designed geometry are welded around the pipe interior and invert flow to rapidly mix liquids or gases. The addition of a second stage of vanes aligned downstream of the first row creates additional vortices that overlap in a braiding effect. Three sets of vane stages in alignment reduce the CoV from .057 with one set, to a CoV of .014 when all three are installed.
Open Channel Static Mixer Model 4000
An affordable solution for increasing potable water capacity.
Westfall’s Open Channel Static Mixer 4000 is a simple and inexpensive choice. It can be used to chlorinate water without having to construct additional pipeline installations or add mixing gear boxes or propellers. It can be installed in tanks up to 20’ wide and 20’ deep, or in open water flows like irrigation and wastewater ditches. It can be affixed to a bulkhead or placed in the center of an installation.
Because it uses the same advanced vane technology as Westfall’s other Low Headloss mixers, this Open Channel Mixer is highly efficient at mixing in chemicals for potable water with minimal headloss.
Open Channel Static Mixer Model 5000
New Low Headloss Static Mixer Reduces Flooding and Fouling.
The Westfall Open Channel Static Mixer 5000 introduces a new global standard in open channel mixers. The recently patented design offers a simple infrastructure solution that is applicable worldwide.
A series of hydro-dynamic vanes are anchored linearly along the centerline of the open channel. These patented vanes are designed to resolve the major problems engineer’s face when moving water along open channels, ditches, conduits, canals, tunnels and aquaducts.
Coagulation/Flocculation Static Mixer 7000
A simple 2-stage solution for cleaning wastewater in a compact space.
For use in Coagulation/Flocculation applications where suspended solids and particles must be removed from wastewater and space is limited. A coagulant, added to wastewater downstream of Westfall’s Static Mixer Model 2800, undergoes high shear turbulence. Rapid mixing is generated to disperse the coagulant throughout the liquid.
As a result of the coagulant action, charge neutralization occurs and the suspended particles bind together to form larger particles or flocs. These bonded particles then flow past Westfall’s Low Headloss 3050 vanes for slow and gentle mixing with the polymers required to help the particles form bridges and agglomerate into much larger flocs. Once formed, the large flocs are easily removed by filtration, straining, floatation or sedimentation.
This second stage eliminates the need for lengthy serpentine piping.
